Students from the Prins Claus Conservatory present a special concert of about 45 minutes every Friday afternoon on one of the most impressive organs in Northern Netherlands. The third concert will be given by Pietro Paganini. Pietro Paganini is an organist, harpsichordist, and pianist who performs with historical instruments throughout Europe. He has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Philharmonie in Paris, and the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam, and has been featured at international festivals for early and contemporary music, including the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Musikfest Bremen, and the Amsterdam Dance Event. He has collaborated with ensembles and orchestras such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Brüggen Consort, and the Orchestra of Flanders, and has won various international competitions, including the Brunnenthal Baroque Soloists Competition and the Pesaro Competition. Additionally, he received the Huygens Excellence Grant. After his training in Italy, he completed a master&#39;s degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and continued his studies in Stuttgart and Groningen, at the Prins Claus Conservatory. He studied with notable teachers such as E. Wiersinga, S. de Vries, T. Koopman, and L. Ghielmi, and participated in several international masterclasses. Since 2022, he has been the organist of the historical Meijer organ (1795) at Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder in Amsterdam. In July 2025, his debut album featuring Bach works will be released, recorded on the Müller organ of the Walloon Church in Amsterdam with Challenge Classics. Before the concert, the student will personally explain the program, allowing you to learn more about the background and character of the selected works. After her studies, Rie Hiroe won several prestigious organ awards, including the Grand Prix de Chartres in 1998. Jaime González-Sierra won second prize at the fifth edition of the Francisco Salinas National Organ Competition and has performed as a soloist at festivals and concert venues in Spain and the Netherlands. The concert will be performed by Márton Lénárt. Márton began his musical training at the age of six in Budapest, where he initially took piano lessons. He soon developed a keen interest in the organ and the rich tradition of church music. He studied for four years at the Bartók Béla Conservatory under Balázs Szabó, where he not only mastered the classical organ repertoire but also delved into the historical, liturgical, and stylistic backgrounds of the music. Since September 2023, Márton has been studying at the Prince Claus Conservatoire in Groningen, where he is taught by Erwin Wiersinga and Sietze de Vries. In his studies, he focuses on the grand European organ repertoire, improvisation, and historical performance practice. Before the concert, Márton will give a brief personal introduction to the program and the selected works, allowing you to discover more about the background, style, and character of the music. In each church, the instrument will be briefly explained and played, allowing visitors not only to experience the sound but also to learn more about the history, construction, and character of these often centuries-old instruments. The tour traverses one of the most beautiful cultural landscapes in Northern Netherlands. The churches, located on ancient terpen, together form an impressive heritage of architecture, music, and regional history. From the intimate character of small village churches to the monumental organ in Middelstum: each location has its own story and sound world. The organ excursion is led by organist/organ expert Henk de Vries and historian Reint Wobbes and is intended for organ enthusiasts, musicians, choir singers, and those interested in culture and history. This day also offers a unique opportunity for those wishing to learn more about the Groningen terp landscape. The excursion starts at 10:30 AM in Groningen opposite the Central Station, Stop Rondvaartboot. There, a coach from Arriva Touring will be ready to transport participants to Oosterwijtwerd, ’t Zandt, Huizinge, and Middelstum. An additional pick-up point is at 11:00 AM at the station in Loppersum. The return trip will begin at 3:30 PM in Loppersum and ends in Groningen at the Central Station at 4:30 PM.
