Enjoy a delightful summer lunch concert on the monumental organ of the Martinikerk. Students from the Prins Claus Conservatory present a special concert of about 45 minutes every Friday afternoon on one of the most impressive organs in Northern Netherlands. The third concert will be given by Pietro Paganini. Pietro Paganini is an organist, harpsichordist, and pianist who performs with historical instruments throughout Europe. He has performed in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall in New York, the Philharmonie in Paris, and the Muziekgebouw aan ’t IJ in Amsterdam, and has been featured at international festivals for early and contemporary music, including the Utrecht Early Music Festival, Musikfest Bremen, and the Amsterdam Dance Event. He has collaborated with ensembles and orchestras such as the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Brüggen Consort, and the Orchestra of Flanders, and has won various international competitions, including the Brunnenthal Baroque Soloists Competition and the Pesaro Competition. Additionally, he received the Huygens Excellence Grant. After his training in Italy, he completed a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory in The Hague and continued his studies in Stuttgart and Groningen, at the Prins Claus Conservatory. He studied with notable teachers such as E. Wiersinga, S. de Vries, T. Koopman, and L. Ghielmi, and participated in several international masterclasses. Since 2022, he has been the organist of the historical Meijer organ (1795) at Ons’ Lieve Heer op Solder in Amsterdam. In July 2025, his debut album featuring Bach works will be released, recorded on the Müller organ of the Walloon Church in Amsterdam with Challenge Classics. Before the concert, the student will personally explain the program, allowing you to learn more about the background and character of the selected works. Before and after the concert, there will be plenty of opportunities to wander quietly through the Martinikerk and experience the special atmosphere and rich history of this monumental building. Every month we organize concerts on the Smits organ in De Duif. Stephan van de Wijgert is our resident organist and curates the program for the upcoming summer concerts. Located along the Prinsengracht is a hidden gem: De Duif. This cultural venue is one of the event locations of Stadsherstel Amsterdam. The Smits organ in De Duif is a monument within a monument. Like every year, on July 20 at 8 pm, we celebrate the National Day with a free concert. This concert is organized by the Queen Elisabeth Competition, in collaboration with the Belgian National Orchestra, with the support of the FPS Chancellery of the Prime Minister and the National Lottery. The event will take place in the presence of the King and Queen, and exceptionally this year, in the magnificent Art Deco hall of NOVUM. The soloist is violinist Elli Choi, Third Prize at the 2024 Queen Elisabeth Competition. She will perform alongside the Belgian National Orchestra conducted by Hankyeol Yoon. The concert opens with The Hebrides (“ Fingal’s Cave ”) by Felix Mendelssohn. Elli Choi will then perform Max Bruch ’s Violin Concerto No.1. The orchestra will also perform The Noon Witch by Antonín Dvořák before closing the evening with the famous Waltz from Masquerade by Aram Khachaturian. This summer, a beautiful series of Summer Evening Concerts will again take place in the Grote Kerk Alkmaar. A cozy series on Wednesday evenings at 8:15 PM, between July 1 and August 19. The series will conclude with a special request program on September 9. City organist Pieter van Dijk will present works based on the chorale 'Aus tiefer Noth' after the intermission. This melody, which beautifully depicts the text of 'Aus tiefer Noth schrei ich zu dir', will be heard in arrangements by Mendelssohn, Reger, and Bach. Bach's six-part arrangement features the melody in the tenor register in the pedal. On the Covelens organ, three compositions by the Polish Sweelinck student Paul Sieffert, who worked in Danzig, will be performed. From the Hanseatic city of Lübeck, you will hear Buxtehude's monumental Te Deum. There will also be a musical surprise in this concert, the Trio in d BWV 1069. This Trio is an arrangement of the Concerto for three harpsichords and orchestra. Andries van Rossem, who created the arrangement for organ, suspects that Bach compiled this composition from a trio setting.

This time not organized by students from the Prins Claus Conservatorium, but in collaboration with the Aurora Festival. During this special lunch concert, approximately 45 minutes of music will be performed on one of the most impressive organs in Northern Netherlands. The fourth concert will be presented by Daniel Seeger (*1997), a versatile musician who is active as a concert organist, church musician, choral accompanist, and continuo player. As an organist, he regularly performs with ensembles such as Collegium 1704 Prague, LauttenCompagney Berlin, Vox Luminis, and the Netherlands Bach Society, both as a soloist and in ensemble settings. He also contributes to the project All of Bach. On the famous Schnitger organ of the Martinikerk, Daniel Seeger will showcase a program featuring organ works from the 16th and 17th centuries. On the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the death of John Dowland in 2026, tenor Maxime Melnik and lutenist Adriaan Lauwers offer a sensitive, intimate and deeply embodied tribute to the English composer, a major figure in Renaissance music. An undisputed master of lute song, Dowland was able to bring to a rare degree of refinement the expression of human passions, combining melancholy, introspection and great poetic delicacy. This program brings together a selection of his most famous songs for voice and lute, where text and music dialogue with extreme subtlety, revealing all the expressive richness of his language. These vocal pages are punctuated by Lachrimae and other iconic instrumental pieces, offering moments of breathing and contemplation. Through this alternation, Maxime Melnik and Adriaan Lauwers invite the public to immerse themselves in Dowland's universe, where the apparent simplicity of writing hides an intensity of rare depth.

Duo concert as part of the International Organ Festival Haarlem. This summer, a lovely series of Summer Evening Concerts will take place again at the Grote Kerk Alkmaar. A charming series on Wednesday evenings at 20:15, between July 1 and August 19. The series will conclude with a special request program on September 9. Traditionally, a concert is held in Alkmaar during the Haarlem Organ Festival. This year, Stefan Engels from Dallas and Francesca Ajossa from Delft will be guests at the Laurenskerk. Stefan will give a masterclass during the Haarlem festival. He is a big fan of the music of Karg-Elert, a contemporary of Reger, who was and is very popular among American organists. Engels recorded the complete Karg-Elert for the Priory label. In Alkmaar, he will perform one of his works, alongside Danksagmüller's Estampie and Bach's majestic Präludium and Fuga in E-flat major. Ajossa's part of the program also spans between old and new. In response to the Toccata terza by her famous compatriot Girolamo Frescobaldi, Ligeti’s Ricercare will sound, a homage to Girolamo. From Sweelinck, Francesca will perform his mournful Ricercar. She concludes her part with the swinging Tanztoccata by Anton Heiller.

‘Darkness and Light’ In the IMOCG opening concert ‘Darkness and Light,’ we hear titular organist Erwin Wiersinga on the main organ of the Martinikerk. He is accompanied by an ensemble of professional singers in a program that explores the depth of the European choral and organ tradition.
